Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has interdicted two senior county revenue officers over an illegal garbage dumping incident near Stima Plaza.
Speaking at County Hall before the Committee on Administration and Internal Security, Sakaja condemned the act, saying it did not reflect the county’s policies.
“Two officers have been interdicted following the illegal dumping of garbage because this is not what we stand for. On behalf of the staff, I apologise. That should not have happened,” Sakaja said.
“It was uncouth, primitive, it will not happen again,” He added.
The officers were accused of directing the illegal dumping.
The Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, confirmed that investigations began immediately after the reported incident.
“I was in Nigeria at the time, but we initiated investigations as soon as the report came in,” Kanja said.
Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin said Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) officials reported the matter at Parklands Police Station.
“We launched investigations, and several people have been arrested for questioning,” Amin said.
He added that the probe would establish those responsible and ensure legal action is taken.
The officials emphasized the need for better measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
