President William Ruto has received the report on the recruitment of nominees for the positions of Chairperson and Members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). The IEBC Selection Panel presented the report on Tuesday at State House, Nairobi.
Ruto said he will forward the names of the nominees to the National Assembly for vetting, as required by the IEBC Act. Once approved, the nominees will be appointed.
The panel, chaired by Nelson Makanda, completed the selection process after conducting interviews that ended on April 25.
Interviews for the position of Chairperson were finalized on March 26. Eleven candidates were interviewed, including Anne Amadi, Charles Nyachae, Saul Simiyu Wasilwa, Abdulqadir Lorot Ramadhan, Joy Mdivo, Edward Katama Ngeywa, Erastus Edung Ethekon, Francis Kakai Kissinger, Jacob Ngwele Muvengei, Lilian Wanjiku Manegene, and Robert Akumu Asembo.
The interviews for IEBC commissioner positions began on March 27 and concluded on April 25. Out of 111 shortlisted applicants, 106 attended the interviews.
