Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo has called for stronger enforcement of sexual and reproductive health policies and urged religious institutions to join conversations aimed at protecting girls’ rights.
She made the remarks at the fifth edition of the Girls Assembly hosted by Polycom Girls, where adolescent girls and young women led discussions on gender, leadership, and decision-making.
The annual gathering provides a platform for girls to elect their leaders, reflect on their accomplishments, and develop new ideas.
Jane Anyango, founder of Polycom Girls, said the assembly is built around mentorship and equipping girls with skills to become economically independent and assertive in public spaces.
Rachelle Ouko, founder of Daraja Letu Foundation, called for collaboration in advancing the women, peace, and security agenda. At the same time, Phenny Ogembo, youth envoy at the foundation, said the event represents an ongoing legacy passed down from older women leaders.
