Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has dismissed claims that he has dropped his bid for Nairobi Governor.
Addressing the media at his campaign secretariat today, Mr. Wanyonyi termed the reports doing rounds in Social Media as cheap propaganda by his weak rivals.
Already, the wetlands member of Parliament has been cleared by his party, ODM, to vie for the city’s top seat after he submitted his documents to the National Elections Board (NEB).
“At no point have I talked to any of my opponents in the race about quitting the race. At no point have I talked to any of my opponents about becoming a Deputy to any one of them,” he said.
“I declared my intention to become Governor of Nairobi on November 14, 2021. I remain committed to my declaration,” he added.
He said his only remaining task is now to select a suitable running mate who shares the passion and vision of Nairobians to transform Nairobi into a home for every Kenyans.
“To my opponents spreading fake news and cheap lies about me, I tell you this: People of Nairobi now know better than you imagine. They want a leader who has been with them when they needed him most.
When my people of Westlands needed me for ten years, I stayed with them. I was there for them. Similarly, when my people of Nairobi need me, as they will, I will be there for them,” he said.
At the same time, Wanyonyi reminded his competitors that the people of Nairobi need a servant leader and not characters who are puppets, have no recognizable development record, and are burdened by scandals.
