Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced that students sitting the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams will continue receiving meals through the county’s “Dishi na County” program. Despite the closure of schools this week, the feeding initiative will ensure candidates are supported throughout the exam period.

According to Governor Sakaja, meals will be provided from Monday, 28th October to Thursday, 31st October 2024. “The program will serve hot lunches to students, helping them stay energized and focused during this crucial time,” he stated.

Suzanne Silantoi, Nairobi’s County Executive for Health, Wellness, and Nutrition, emphasized the initiative’s importance in alleviating pressure on parents. She assured that plans are in place to continue feeding learners even as most schools close.

Launched 14 months ago, the school feeding program has benefited over 310,000 students in more than 200 schools. Silantoi also confirmed that the program’s third phase, which began earlier this year, will extend into the next academic year.
